A lot of nothing
| Prev : Sept. 19, 2003 : 4:13 p.m. Next |

Nothing to write home about (or anywhere for that matter) here.

I think I've recovered almost completely from the surgery. I think that the pain I felt the other day was the start of an infection from the bellybutton incision site. I removed the steri-strips and it helped it clear up. I've also been sleeping on the left side of the bed - I switched sides with MPH. I usually sleep facing the edge of the bed whatever side I'm on. Since we've been together - I've slept on the right side - sleeping on the left side and my left side is helping.

MPH has been home for a long time. He's usually traveling half the time. He's the perfect husband, but I also like my alone time. I like to dink around without having anybody ask me what I'm doing and then trying to take it over. He does that. He doesn't let me do anything that requires any 'work'. It's been annoying at times - I've spent most of my life being the technical one - understanding the electronic stuff in the house - how to program the VCR or whatever. Since he's been around he took all that stuff over, but then he is the electronics technician.

He also takes over all the garbage duty, and he does a lot in the kitchen. He scoops the poop out of the backyard on a regular basis, mows the lawn, etc. He gets the house ready for winter, deals with the car maintenance. I used to be all self-sufficient and do everything myself - now I've become the pampered wife. Actually it was hard to give it up at first, now I just watch him.

I started making those little kitchen towels that you can fasten onto the range door handle or dishwasher handle or drawer pull handle. I bought 3 packages of kitchen towels at Walmart. You just cut the towels in half and sew up the cut off end and crochet a flap on it - and then sew a button on it. I didn't have a clue what I was doing - I had to pull out the crocheted part a couple times and do it over and over, but it looks cute.

Well the packages of kitchen towels from Walmart had 6 each in each - so that's 18 towels - I'll end up with 36 little towels by the time this is all over. Everybody will be getting a kitchen towel for Xmas this year if I actually get motivated to do them all. I'm one of those people that don't like to leave projects undone, so these will get done.

Connie bought a membership to the gym - so now I'm committed to go tomorrow morning. Mine expires 10/29 - and they have a special $99 for 6 mo, I might have to see if I can extend mine.

My cat is going to drive me nuts, she keeps telling us that she wants to go out, but we don't like to let her out anymore. She won't shut up either. She wanders all night, and not too long ago we heard her fighting with another cat out in the woods behind our house. The undeveloped property there is designated wetlands for the area. I've heard that there's lynx out there - I know there's a lot of rabbits. I wouldn't doubt that there's fox and I've heard and seen owls ocassionally. The cat hunted a rabbit and brought it home and actually got it over the 6 foot cedar fence into our yard. She left us a few presents on the deck, little rodents that she caught and played with until she finished them off.

I love having these animals at home. Until recently I never was much of a dog person - I thought dogs were ridiculous animals, all slobbery and dumb-happy. I used to prefer cats, because they didn't jump all over you and bug you to death - not until this cat anyhow. Rosie the chihuahua is a little annoying because she thinks she's the pampered special one. I've had to set her straight a few times. Mac is a little rough sometimes and has to watch himself - but I love him. He's my protection when MPH is gone.

Well things are moving around here now. I should probably do something else besides this.
