Excuse me - I'll be right back.
| Prev : Jan. 03, 2004 : 9:00 a.m. Next |

I slept in til almost 9. I can't believe that.

I finally went to the Dr. about my shoulder yesterday. Yesterday morning at work when signing for Fed Ex packages that only weighed 4 pounds it ached to even put those on the shelf. So I went straight back to my desk and scheduled an appointment. It bothers me to try to turn the steering wheel, not a lot but it aches. It bothers me to try to put dishes away.

For two months I've been messing with this, I hurt it at the gym on one of the nautilus equipment, so I've been avoiding using it since. I was hoping that it would just go away. It only took Dr. V 2 minutes to figure it out and refer me to physical therapy. There they will likely give me one of those stretchy rubber band things to exercise with to correct the problem. Dr. V says that it's an impingement and the therapy will correct the 'misfiring' and get it right.

We bought an aerobed last night for the kids friend Lily. They've been friends for a few years - they went to school together for a while. Now they're both seniors and my kid has gone to two different high schools since leaving the one that they went to together. I would let Lily stay here all the time - but then she would need a ride to school.

Lily is a little bit of a long story. She is chinese. Her mother passed a way sometime before we met her from an aneurism. Her father doesn't speak English very well. Almost since we first met Lily 3-4 years ago my kid would tell me that Lily was moving to NYC. Well last fall that finally happened. Then Lily came back, apparently her high school credits didn't transfer to the new school and she wouldn't be able to graduate this year there. She's living with a family that they knew from church that live near the school she goes to. She's 18, so she can make her own choices, I don't think they have 'guardianship'. I don't think that she's happy there - so she tries to spend a lot of time with my kid.

She's actually nice to have around too. Her and my kid looked a lot alike when they first became friends. Long dark hair, kind of thin build, and the Harry Potter glasses. My kid has filled out a little now and they both wear contacts, but they both still have the long dark hair.

MPH and the kid went and bought the boots & poles to go with the skis yesterday. So hopefully in a day or two she can go skiing. I had her learn how to ski when she was 7 yo. She's pretty good at it. The only problem is that she doesn't know many other kids her age that also know how to ski. So there's not really anybody to so skiing with and I don't like to see her go by herself. She said her friends Cheyanne and Shawn want to go snowboarding.

I can't believe I slept so long. I was having a dream about some guy complaining about our dog and we were waiting for an Animal Control officer to show up to make a decision on the situation. I'm trying to tell this guy that our dog is completely under our control, and as I'm doing this I realized that I didn't have a shirt on or nothing. So I left the room and put on a shirt and came back. Weird dream - anyhow I got up before the officer showed up. My aunt Susie was in the dream too.

My aunt Susie is not really my aunt - just people that my parents have known for many years. My mother couldn't stand Susie actually. When we see Susie at different functions now - it's always good to hear her say "Oh Hiiiiiii!" and give her a hug. She can't see very well anymore or hear, and she seems to have trouble getting around. I've heard that she might have cancer. She might be at the crafts show coming up next month.

I should probably keep in touch with my old friends more often.

I think I've gained a few lbs this week. I didn't go to the gym since we came home and I've been eating like crazy - actually feeling kind of ravenous all the time. The cool thing is that we found juice last night that's made with Splenda.

I know there's some controversy about whether Splenda is bad for you or not, but at least it doesn't carry the warning label like Nutrasweet. Phenylalanine gives me horrible headaches - I guess I don't manufacture the enzymes necessary to metabolize phenylalanine and so it builds up in my system. Splenda on the other hand is sugar that is altered by removing hydrogen atoms and replacing them with chloride atoms. The body doesn't metabolize the 'splenda'. I don't know how it works but - it's a sweetener that I can have.

I should get moving now.
